For fun. And, yes, I always put down a great book and long to know what happened to the characters after "The End." The more you look at this, the more apparent that the traditional model of expenditure is broken and results in a culture of benefit dependency and debt. Consistent failure by Government to control costs has not only made us uncompetitive internationally (loss of jobs in the UK due to high costs) but allowed some costs of living to inflate far faster than they should. A £60,000 mortgage at 5% is £350.75 per month (25 years) – however a £190,000 mortgage at 5%, 25 years is £1110.72 per month, that’s a £759.97 monthly difference or looking at that another way you could afford to loose £10,000 a year on your income without any drop in your living standards. Makes you think doesn’t it? House prices are still at least 69% above where they should be due to inflation starting in the 1970’s. Who gains from high house prices? Speculators, Lenders, Estate Agents and owners vanity.
